fakin' it on monday ..

so I have a love hate relationship with stamps, I love the images they produce and the imperfections you get in the process of stamping. but I hate that they cost so much and the unpredictability of getting a not so perfect image (i blame some of that on my technique that was honed at a stamp shop) but mostly its about the price and having to give such a big commitment to "one" image.  so insert some sharpie markers and coloring ....
so for this card idea I had floating in my head, i needed a "bunch" of flowers. seeing as how i love love love wild flowers and how they look all together i went from there. picked 3 colors from my sharpie ... well really they're mark.it kind and drew up little blobs in the different colors ( i will not will not spend $4 on a single marker ever again ... i did this with the pantone ones back in college, and well that was a fortune spent of , crap what's the word, depressing ... you know where something looses value over time, like a car .. blah you know what i mean right? so no copic's for me, although those distressed water based ones do look yummy ... no! no i will not do this to myself i am not a marker coloring person.. but i do want the copic pen set... a sharp .03 black line sounds heavenly, oh and a brown one too now that i'm dreaming)  okay back on topic, i promise .. draw those up so they look somewhat like a circle, or bunch of flowers, then i go in and add some green bits along with some lines and triangles to act as stems. when that is all filled in go back with a black fine tip and doodle away the flower shapes, but be general about it ... your going for more of an over all feel not a detail, and don't worry about staying in the lines. finally cut out said flower bunch, tie a little bit of twine or ribbon on the skinny part of the stem triangles and attach to cards. EASY PEASY? right?  here are the cards I came up with .. used the computer and printer for the lettering, but if you like your handwriting its just as easy to do that too.

i'm thinking i'll make up a whole set of these and give them to K's teacher so she has some thankyou cards to give out, because i know they will just sit in my stash of made cards and if i do give them away i always give them away blank and slip a little note in telling the recipient to send the card to someone they love ...
